Welcome!

Gnucap+ is an extension of the Gnu Circuit Analysis Package, Gnucap.

Why Gnucap+?

Our aim is to extend Gnucap and make it the best simulator available, period. That includes besting expensive and slow-moving commercial packages.

This is accomplished by using agile development techniques and the best free, open source software available. Not to mention, several motivated and innovative developers :).

Is it a fork?

Forks generally carry some negative connotation. Think of Gnucap+ as an extension.

Due to the modular design of Gnucap, we plan to keep changes easy to merge between both Gnucap and Gnucap+. By using git and tools such as this bug tracker, this is truly community driven software. We have the ability to easily integrate new developers and experimental features and invite anyone to join our project and develop whatever is of interest. Gnucap+ will be a much faster moving project.

We plan on incubating changes here and pushing them back to Gnucap main whenever they are deemed acceptable by Al Davis.

Getting started

You can get the latest development tree using git:
git clone git://git.gnucapplus.org/g-plus.

There is a script in this repo to clone the rest of the submodules.

If you are a user or developer, drop by the Gnucap mailing lists to get involved!

Repositories

Breif overview of the repositories:
g-plus.git - Meta repo that uses 'git submodule' to pull in others
gnucap-a.git - gnucap with Analog Rails changes. Our current working tree.
gnucap-main.git - Al Davis's current gnucap, repackaged in git
gnucapplus.git - currently obsolete/unmaintained. Has patches to compile as a .so for Python integration.
Others - individual repos for models changes and plugins we are working on.

Developers

If you are interested in developing Gnucap+, please contact kevin <at> analograils <dot> com. We are happy to host any Gnucap related projects and have compute resources for automated testing, building, etc.

Gnucap+ is a commercially-backed FOSS project with the support of Analog Rails.
